The traverse of the Kreuzeck range of mountains with a well-informed English speaking Walking Guide starts in the county of east Tirol and finishes in the southern Austrian county of Carinthia.
The Kreuzeck group of mountains lie between the Lienz Dolomites, the Gailtaler Alps and the main Alps. This area boasts stunning views of the surrounding mountains. It is something of a hidden corner of Austria and so it is possible to enjoy the scenery without it being overcrowded.
The walk starts from Iselsberg, just outside Lienz and from here we head to the Anna Schutzhaus.
Day two is hiking over the Ziehten Kopf to the lovely Hugo Gerbers Hut.
On the third day we traverse the Scharnik, our first summit in the Kreuzeck range.
Along the way to the Feldner Hut we enjoy a cold bath for our feet in one of the 14 Lakes. Those who have enough energy left can climb up the Kreuzeck.
From the Feldner Hut we hike to the Salzkofel Hut, again those who want to can climb the Salzkofel just above the hut.
Day five, departing from the Salzkofel Hut we then descend towards Möllbrücke in the valley and then take the train back to Lienz.
On the final day, participants can enjoy the attractive almost Mediterranean town of Lienz, taking a walk along the river for example.
Highlights: Enjoying the solitude of the Kreuzeck Group
Fitness: Able to ascend for 4 - 6 hoursper day
Group: Maximum of 8 participants per Guide
Price: Prices include guiding and half board accommodation
