August 2008

Hello and welcome to the website.

After successful summits of Mont Blanc and Gran Paradiso in July, Andi is now back in Austria in the Gross Venediger range with clients from Holland.

Next weekend we really will be back on home territory, guiding a group of German businessmen in the Wilder Kaiser, the mountain range behind our house. We are both especially looking forward to this as we are guiding together.

We will then meet up with Gil again to hopefully complete the Climb Ev'ry Mountain Challenge, raising money for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre. Fingers crossed for good weather...

Prices

All prices shown include the guiding fee, half board accommodation in a mountain hut or local guest house, organisational fees and communal equipment.

Prices shown do not cover travel costs to and from tours, lift fees or tolls on the tour, equipment, drinks or lunch pack. Lunch packs are usually available from huts for a small fee.

Specialist equipment (crampons, climbing harness, ice screws etc.) can be hired from us. Equipment lists will be provided for the individual tours and also a hire price list.

International Mountain Guide

The internationally recognised IAFMG qualification takes two years to complete and involves courses in disciplines such as rock climbing, avalanche awareness, ice climbing, ski touring, high altitude glacier tours plus safety and rescue techniques. Each course finishes with an exam which must be passed in order to progress to the next stage.

Our tours are always lead by selected qualified IAFMG Guides, Aspirants and Tirolean Mountain Walking Guides.

Payment

As soon as we receive confirmation of your booking you will receive a detailed itinerary from us detailing meeting times and locations etc. and also a relevant equipment list. A deposit payment of 50% should then be made within the next 14 days. The final payment can then be transferred 14 days before the start of the tour.

Members of a Mountaineering Club (e.g. The BMC) receive a reduction at certain huts. Our prices are based on Members Fees, therefore for non-members an additional €10  must be payed directly either to the hut or your guide (see also Insurance).

Insurance

Participants are responsible for organising valid accident insurance. Mountaineering Clubs e.g. The BMC or the Austrian Alpenverein include insurance cover as part of their membership fees. This membership also entitles you to discounts at certain huts.
